Israel Gaza War: Israeli forces have killed at least eight Palestinians in an attack in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US. The Palestinian Civil Defense said a man and a woman were among those killed on Sunday. According to the statement, several more people were killed in separate attacks across the territory, including three in Khan Younis and one in Gaza’s Old City. This attack raises questions about whether Trump is playing a double game or whether Israel has stopped listening to the US.
Israeli Attack Amid Peace Initiative
Sunday’s attack came two days after US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace released a 15-point roadmap to implement last year’s Gaza ceasefire agreement, which has seen Israeli attacks intensify despite diplomatic successes.
The roadmap has yet to be implemented on the ground. Hamas has stated that it will surrender its weapons only if Israel ceases military operations and withdraws its troops in accordance with last year’s agreement. An Israeli official told Reuters news agency that Hamas will not return to its current position until it “truly lays down its arms.”
Tensions between Israel and Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not commented on the initiative, but right-wing National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has rejected it and said Israel should continue targeting Hamas leaders.
Mohammad Dahlan, a former senior Fatah official living in the United Arab Emirates, said that Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser on US initiatives, Jared Kushner, told him that he is working with Israel to stop attacks on Gaza.
Dahlan said that talks with Washington are ongoing, and the success of the agreement now depends on Israel completely halting its daily attacks. Additionally, Israeli strikes on Saturday destroyed a medical supply warehouse in central Gaza, creating a 20-meter-wide and 10-meter-deep crater, part of a larger wave of attacks that continues despite ceasefire efforts.
