Patna. The Bihar government has resolved a long-standing issue for landowners. Now, if only a portion of a plot is acquired for a project, there will be no unnecessary restrictions on the use or sale of the remaining land. This decision is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of landowners.

Land Owners Will Be Able to Use as They Desire

The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has clarified that the landowner will retain full rights over the land remaining outside the acquisition scope. They can use the land for construction, farming, or other legitimate purposes as per their needs. If they wish to sell the land, there will be no unnecessary restrictions.

Clear Instructions Given to District Magistrates

The department has issued instructions to all District Magistrates to ensure strict compliance with the new order. Officials have been instructed to impose restrictions only on the portion of land actually involved in the acquisition process. It would be inappropriate to impose any restrictions on the remaining land.

The ban will only apply to the acquired portion.

Under the new system, the ban will only apply to the land that is part of the acquisition process. If the remaining portion of a Khasra is not acquired, purchase, sale, and other legal transactions will be conducted as normal. This will allow landowners to better utilize their property.

Landowners will receive direct benefits.

This government decision is expected to reduce disputes to land acquisition. Furthermore, landowners will not face unnecessary obstacles in the use and transaction of their remaining land. This decision is considered an important step towards striking a balance between development projects and citizens’ rights.
