IND vs SL Test Series: Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The series begins on August 15th, for which Bumrah had returned to Team India. He recently passed a fitness test, but now reports have emerged that he will not be able to play in the series. The report states that Jasprit Bumrah still has a problem with his left knee.
He is one of the most important players in the Indian team, and the board does not want to rush into any decisions regarding him. Therefore, Bumrah has been advised to rest. However, no official statement has yet been issued by the board on this matter. However, the big question is: if Bumrah does not play, who will replace him in the Sri Lanka Test series?
Aqib Nabi’s name is at the forefront of the race
Jasprit Bumrah’s absence will significantly weaken Team India’s bowling. Therefore, the board may announce his replacement soon. If reports are to be believed, Jammu and Kashmir-based fast bowler Aaqib Nabi could replace Bumrah in Team India. Although the team management has other options, Aaqib Nabi is the frontrunner. Aaqib Nabi has performed exceptionally well in domestic cricket.
Aaqib Nabi’s Records
29-year-old Aaqib Nabi Dar rose to prominence after his impressive performances for Jammu and Kashmir in domestic cricket. He played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir’s first-ever Ranji Trophy title by taking the most wickets in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy. That season, Aaqib Nabi took 60 wickets in just 10 matches at an average of 12.56.
Aaqib Nabi has 162 wickets in 43 first-class matches and has also scored 999 runs with the bat. As such, he could be a key player for the Indian team in Test cricket, contributing both with the ball and the bat in the lower order. It will be interesting to see if the team management and selectors give Aqib Nabi a chance in Test cricket.
