A recent demonstration in the Parliament complex against alleged financial misconduct related to the Ram Temple has intensified political tensions. During the protest, independent MP Pappu Yadav donned saffron attire and impersonated a priest, dramatically illustrating a theft by pocketing money from a donation box.

Following complaints from BJP leaders, cases have been filed against Rahul Gandhi, Awadhesh Prasad, and Pappu Yadav in Varanasi, Delhi, and Jahangirpuri for allegedly inciting religious sentiments.

In response to the legal actions, Pappu Yadav held a press conference in Purnia, targeting the BJP and police actions. He questioned, "Do I not have the right to wear saffron? If Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are not afraid of FIRs, why should I be?" He expressed his readiness to protect the nation from those who deceive in the name of religion and God, adding that involving his children in this matter is inappropriate.

Yadav clarified that his intention was not to hurt anyone's religious sentiments but to safeguard the donations and trust placed in temples. He posed the question, "Is it wrong to expose those who loot temple funds? Is it a crime to talk about protecting the faith of millions and the offerings made?"

He warned his opponents that BJP leaders can say what they want, but it does not affect him. Yadav stated that regardless of the opposition he faces, even if it means risking his life, he will continue to raise his voice against those who exploit religion.
