New Delhi. Many people may know Xiaomi for its smartphones, TVs, and other electrical appliances, but the company also manufactures cars in its domestic market. Xiaomi’s electric cars have generated considerable buzz in the Chinese market. Now, the company has launched its first SUV under its sub-brand, SkyNomad.
SkyNomad is Xiaomi’s electric car sub-brand, under which the brand introduced the N90. Xiaomi previously launched the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV, both driver-centric vehicles. Both of these vehicles come with Xiaomi branding.
The SUV will be longer than 5 meters
The Skynomad N90, meanwhile, is a three-row SUV that focuses on practicality and comfort. Xiaomi has unveiled it. This SUV will feature a boxy and upfront design. Reports suggest the car will be 5285 mm long, 1998 mm wide, and 1825 mm tall. The company has not yet officially revealed these details.
The car will have a 3080 mm wheelbase and weigh 2.8 tons. The SUV will feature LED headlamps, Volvo-like T-shaped DRLs, and the Skynomad wordmark. The car will also feature a LiDAR sensor. It will also feature 21-inch alloy wheels, body cladding, flap-type door handles, and a large glass area.
Xiaomi hasn’t fully showcased the car. However, according to the information provided, it will feature a freestanding infotainment touchscreen, a second-row entertainment screen, and a dual-panel sunroof. The car will come in multiple seating configurations.
Engine, Power and Seats
The 7-seater variant will feature a reclining second row with captain seats and an ottoman. The third row seats can accommodate three people. The front seats can be rotated 180 degrees to face the rear seats. The 5-seater version will also feature a coffee table between the first and second rows.
The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 is the brand’s first range-extender EV. However, the company has not revealed its powertrain details. Reports suggest that the car will come with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine and two electric motors, each acting as a generator. The SUV will produce 421 hp and have a top speed of 190 km/l. It is expected to be powered by a 76kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 370 km. The 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine will have a fuel efficiency of 15.9 km/l.
