New Appointment Ahead of Sri Lanka Tour

Subhadeep Ghosh has taken over from T Dilip as the fielding coach for the India men's cricket team, just in time for their upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka, as reported by Cricinfo.

Ghosh's Coaching Experience

At 57 years old, Ghosh has a rich coaching background, having previously worked as the fielding coach for the India women's team for two years. During this period, he contributed to the support staff for both the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup and the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup. Additionally, he has experience with India A and has served as the head coach for Assam's senior men's team.

Domestic Career Highlights

In his playing days, Ghosh was a right-handed batsman who represented Assam and Railways. His domestic career includes participation in 17 first-class matches and 17 List A games.

India's Upcoming Series in Sri Lanka

The Indian team is set to kick off their two-Test series against Sri Lanka on August 15 in Galle, with the second Test taking place on August 23 at the SSC in Colombo. Prior to the series, the team will engage in a three-day practice match in Colombo starting August 7.

Support Staff Changes

T Dilip held the position of fielding coach for the India men's team from 2021 until the end of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He returned for a second term during India's Test tour of the UK in 2025 on a one-year contract but was not retained after its conclusion.

In another development, Ryan ten Doeschate, the assistant coach for the India men's team, has also resigned following the white-ball tour of England and has taken up a new role as Head of Cricket Strategy with Kolkata Knight Riders.
