Demand for Patriot missiles after heavy Russian attacks
While Ukraine has launched deep strikes inside Russia, Russia has also launched massive attacks on 16 Ukrainian regions last week, using approximately 1,900 drones and 144 missiles. Nine people were killed and dozens injured in the attacks in Kyiv and surrounding areas alone. Given the gravity of the situation, Zelenskyy has strongly urged Western allies and the United States to immediately deploy Patriot air defense interceptors. He said that anti-ballistic missiles should be used to save the lives of Ukrainian citizens rather than keeping them in stock.
Appeal for strict sanctions and tightening of the oil sector
In his address, Zelenskyy called on the international community to impose tough global sanctions on Russia’s defense-industrial complex and drone-and-missile component manufacturers. He urged G7 countries to completely cut off financial and logistical channels to Russia’s oil refining capacity and fuel sector to disrupt Moscow’s warfighting capabilities.
