Kulgam Terror Attack: Following the killing of two laborers in Kulgam, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their anti-terrorism campaign. In this connection, an alleged over-ground worker (OGW) has been arrested in the Sheeri area of ​​Baramulla district. Security forces have recovered illegal weapons, ammunition, and other items from his possession. Police have registered an FIR and initiated further investigation.

According to senior police officials, a joint checkpoint was set up by the army, police, and security agencies at the Zandfaran-Goriwan crossing in Narvav. A suspicious man coming from Goriwan, upon seeing the checkpoint, began to flee. Alert soldiers chased him and apprehended him on the spot.

Weapons and ammunition recovered during the search

When the security forces searched the accused, they recovered a camouflaged MP-5 type pistol, a magazine with 10 live 9 mm cartridges, a mobile phone and a black backpack.

The arrested accused has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Nambalan in the Sheeri area of ​​Baramulla district. Police have registered FIR No. 37/2026 against him at the Sheeri police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police and security agencies are investigating his connections and activities.

Strictness increased after Kulgam attack

Officials said the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies are committed to maintaining peace in the region and action against anti-national elements and their networks will continue.

It is noteworthy that on Friday night, two terrorists opened fire on workers at a brick kiln in the Kellam area of ​​Kulgam. Two workers were killed in the attack. The Resistance Front (TRF), an organization affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
