Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu, has resigned from his post. President Draupadi Murmu has accepted his resignation. Ravneet Singh Bittu’s Rajya Sabha membership expired on June 21, 2026. He represented Rajasthan from August 2024 to June 2026.

In his resignation, Ravneet Singh Bittu wrote on Instagram, “I sincerely thank President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity to serve the country as a Minister in the Government of India.”

What will Ravneet Singh Bittu do now?

According to sources, Ravneet Singh Bittu will now focus on next year’s Punjab Assembly elections. Captain Amarinder Singh is no longer as politically active. Preparations are underway to hand over organizational responsibility to Ravneet Singh Bittu in the state. Last month, Ravneet Singh Bittu stated that after serving in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in Delhi for 17 years, he now wants to serve his state in the Punjab Assembly.

Who is Ravneet Singh Bittu?

Ravneet Singh Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. He has served three times as a Lok Sabha MP since 2009 on a Congress ticket. In March 2024, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He contested the Lok Sabha elections from Ludhiana but lost.

Who will be the focus now?

A day before resigning, Ravneet Singh Bittu wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, urging him to expedite the completion of several important railway projects in the state. Ravneet Singh Bittu will now focus on building the BJP’s organization in Punjab. The party has decided to send him to Punjab.
