An all-party meeting held on Sunday, ahead of the four-day monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, which begins on Monday, reached consensus on the peaceful and smooth functioning of the House. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana appealed to all political parties to observe democratic norms and engage in meaningful discussions on issues of public interest, while all parties expressed their full cooperation in the functioning of the House.

Presiding over an all-party meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana stated that the Assembly is the highest forum for democratic debate, and maintaining its dignity is the shared responsibility of both the ruling party and the opposition. He added that the House’s proceedings will be effective only if all members adhere to the rules and use restrained, decorous, and dignified language.

Mahana said that over the past four and a half years, the Assembly has been successfully conducted with the cooperation of all parties. He expressed confidence that this time too, the ruling party and the opposition will discuss issues of public interest in a positive atmosphere and carry forward healthy parliamentary traditions.

He stated that several important legislative and financial matters would be accomplished during the four-day session. Furthermore, for the first time in the Assembly’s history, the full recitation of “Vande Mataram” would be performed in the House.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna stated at the meeting that the smooth functioning of the House is possible only with mutual cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition. He welcomed the assurances from all parties that the House will function peacefully and in an orderly manner, saying this will further strengthen democratic traditions.

The all-party meeting was attended by leaders of various parties including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Ram Niwas Verma of Apna Dal (Sonelal), Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ of Congress, Rajpal Singh Baliyan of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Om Prakash Rajbhar of Subhaspa, Ramesh Singh of Nishad Dal and Raghuraj Pratap Singh ‘Raja Bhaiya’ of Jansatta Dal Democratic.

All parties assured the Speaker of their full cooperation in ensuring the smooth and dignified conduct of the House. A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was also held earlier, where the outline of legislative and financial business for the four-day legislative session was discussed in detail.
