Surabhi Das plays Sita’s sister Shrutkirti in ‘Ramayana’

Surbhi Das: The trailer of filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film “Ramayan” has become a hit as soon as it was released, creating a buzz among the audience for its VFX, characters, and story. It stars several prominent actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in pivotal roles. The film will also feature several other stars who will be crucial parts of the film’s story. We’re talking about Surbhi Das, who is set to make her Bollywood debut with the 4000 crore rupee film “Ramayan.” After establishing herself on television, she will now be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s most-awaited “Ramayan.”

Surbhi Das to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Ramayan’
Surbhi Das, who moved to Mumbai from the North-East to pursue her television career, has bagged a key role in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial venture ‘Ramayan’. In an interview with Bussiness, Surbhi Das revealed that her journey began with an audition for casting director Mukesh Chhabra. However, it took almost two months for confirmation to come, and by then, she had already begun shooting for her show ‘Pandya Brothers’. Surbhi said:

“I went to Mukesh Chhabra and auditioned. About two months later, I got a call saying I’d been selected. Then there were look tests and costume trials. Slowly, everything started to make sense. I couldn’t believe I would be sharing the screen with these legends. It’s an amazing feeling, and I’m thankful to God.” Despite working on television in recent years, she clarified that her move to films wasn’t out of desperation, but out of a genuine desire to grow as an actor. “I wouldn’t call it a struggle. It’s just a process. We don’t come from film families where someone can get us work with a single phone call. You have to audition and keep auditioning until your projects are released, and you have to keep contacting casting directors when you find the right role.”

In a conversation with Bussiness, Surabhi talked about landing a role in ‘Ramayana,’ which is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, and about her character. She revealed that she plays Shrutkirti. She said, “I’m not playing Urmila. I’m playing Shrutkirti, Sita’s youngest sister and Shatrughna’s wife. I’m so grateful to be a part of ‘Ramayana,’ even if it’s a small role. When I got the call, I kept wondering if I was just shortlisted or confirmed for the film. I couldn’t believe it. Being a part of such a huge star cast and a film being made on such a grand scale felt like a dream.”

Surabhi Das said that she kept getting opportunities continuously. Talking about this, she said, ‘When I came from Assam, I was already doing ‘Nima Denzongpa’. After that I did ‘Pandya Store’. Then I decided to move away from television. I worked in ‘Ramayan’ and now I have two more films. I have been lucky that I never had to sit idle for a long time without work.’ She is going to be seen in a film based on the 1971 war. Apart from this, Vikas Bahl’s ‘Dil Ka Darwaza Kholna Darling’ is also included.
