Following the Indian athletes' record-breaking performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, India T20 skipper Shreyas Iyer takes a moment to congratulate his fellow countrymen. The Indian skipper also gave a special mention to the Boxing team for achieving India's best-ever campaign at the Games.
Boxers from India topped the medal tally in the boxing events, winning a record seven gold medals and three silver medals. This is India's best-ever performance by far at the Commonwealth Games in boxing, surpassing the results achieved at the 2018 Gold Coast edition.
Following India's successful campaign, Iyer took to X to laud each athlete representing their country and for their endeavours on the world stage.
Iyer posted on X:
"What a Commonwealth Games for Team India! Our boxers ruled Glasgow, bringing back a slew of gold and making the country proud. A big congratulations to all our champions and para pathfinders for motivating the nation. That was Indian sport at its best. Proud of every athlete who sported the tricolour."

Indian boxers script history in Glasgow
India led the whole table, as the women's boxers kept them above everyone else. Five of India's seven medals came through the women's boxers, while the men's team contributed two more titles.
Jaismine Lamboria, current world champion, secured the gold in the 57kg weight class. Preeti Pawar, who had achieved victory in the World Championships, secured gold in the 54kg weight class. Priya Ghanghas, the reigning Asian champion, triumphed in the 60kg class.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain also made an impact; however, she could only progress to the final and managed a silver at 75kg.
Before this edition, the best-ever performance by India at the Commonwealth Games was at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, where India secured 7 medals, including three gold medals.
India settled at 39 overall.
Indra finished its campaign at the Commonwealth Games with 39 medals. The team achieved 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals from different sports, which reiterates another successful show at the Games.
While the Indian players basked in glory in Glasgow, Iyer is still on his own way as India's new T20 captain. A series of depressing results greeted his captaincy debut-India lost the T20I series 0-2 to Ireland, then went down 0-4 in the five-match one-day series against England.
The team, however, was resilient as they registered a 3-0 series win over Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe to bring Iyer his first series win as T20 captain of India.
Amidst Indian sportspersons creating moments to remember, Iyer's statement summed up the joy of the entire nation as the tricolour flew at golden glory points.
