WATCH: MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant Share Special Ranchi Drive Before Test Series

Rishabh Pant, India's wicket-keeper batter, has sought the guidance of former captain MS Dhoni yet again before a major Test assignment. Before the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka, Pant has been seen training with Dhoni in Ranchi while also spending quality time with the former skipper.

A video of the two cricketers became viral on Sunday after they were observed leaving MS Dhoni's house in Ranchi. In the video, Dhoni was seen in the driving seat of a black Mercedes while his mentee was seated on the co-driver's side. Fans instantly posted the clip on social media and speculated that Pant might be taking tips from his idol ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series.

Pant has been in Ranchi for the past couple of days. He was earlier spotted training in a gym with MS Dhoni and Shahbaz Nadeem, the former India spinner. The duo was also seen on Saturday night on a city drive in a black SUV that is thought to be a Mahindra Thar.

Pant pulls Dhoni as Sri Lanka threaten.

Pant has been seen to be working with Dhoni quite closely at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi. Over the years, Dhoni has played a vital role in the development of Pant, especially while wicket-keeping and coping with the stakes at the highest level.

And the India star has always looked up to Dhoni as a big brother and a mentor. Whenever Pant has felt low in his career, he has always turned to the great man for advice. Their camaraderie extends beyond the cricket field, with Dhoni also attending Pant's sister's wedding.

Pant will be sure to have gained some confidence from the time he has had with Dhoni and may be looking to return to his best in the Sri Lanka Test series, where India will be eager for another good start.

Pant's recent journey and record-breaking Test career.

Though IPL season 2026 with Lucknow Super Giants could not prove his worth, in Test cricket he still excels in his performance. His team, Lucknow Super Giants, ended last in the points table in IPL season 2026. After he resigned from captaincy of the team, he came back to Delhi Capitals in June 2026 through a player-plus-cash trade. Under the terms of the trade, Kuldeep Yadav went to Team Lucknow, whereas Pant rejoined Delhi Capitals with an INR 15 crore salary.

Pant also reached a significant milestone by equalling one of Dhoni's biggest Test records. In the Test against England at Headingley, he hit his seventh Test hundred and became the Indian keeper with the most Test hundreds, surpassing Dhoni with six.

He surpassed Dhoni's record for the most 50+ scores by a visiting Indian wicketkeeper in England and 1000 Test runs in England in 27 innings, surpassing Dhoni's 32 innings.

The Sri Lanka Test series is about to get underway, and Pant will be hoping to transfer his domestic Test form into yet another significant international contest, this time under the captaincy of one of India's greatest-ever cricketers, MS Dhoni.
