Most subscriptions require monthly payments. Many utility services also require monthly payments; examples include mobile bills, electricity bills, OTT subscriptions, insurance premiums, and credit card payments. In today's busy life, it is nearly impossible to keep track of every subscription payment and its due date. Failure to pay bills on time can lead to service disruptions, causing inconvenience.

**Funds are automatically deducted from your bank account on a fixed date each month**

'Autopay' and recurring UPI mandates offer a simple solution to this problem. Setting up a UPI mandate for recurring payments is easy. This eliminates the risk of service interruption or late payment penalties, as every bill is automatically paid from your bank account on the scheduled date. This feature is available on most payment apps. If a user does not have a payment app on their smartphone, it can be easily downloaded.

**No documents required to set up an Autopay mandate**

A key advantage is that no documentation is required to set up Autopay. Users also receive a pre-notification at least 24 hours before the scheduled payment date, alerting them that the bill payment is about to be deducted from their bank account. Nowadays, many OTT platforms encourage users to enable Autopay immediately upon subscribing.

**Most UPI payment apps offer the Autopay feature**

You can set up Autopay using a UPI payment app on your smartphone. For instance, if you use the Google Pay app, tap on your profile picture located at the top right corner of the screen. Then, click on the 'Autopay' button. Here, you can select mandates for various services. Go to the 'Pending' section and click the 'Accept' button. Finally, enter your UPI PIN to complete the setup. There are several benefits to setting up an AutoPay mandate on UPI payment apps.

AutoPay can be set up in a similar manner on other UPI payment apps, including PhonePe. Once configured, payments for bills or services will be automatically deducted from your bank account on the scheduled date. Previously, the AutoPay facility was available only through banks, but now it is also accessible via UPI. Since most people use UPI payment apps, setting up AutoPay has become even easier.
