Actor-turned-BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has apparently hit back at those digging up her old videos of partying and film promotions, saying she has every right to change her beliefs. In a social media video, she stood by her decision to become what she termed an "awakened" and "disciplined" Hindu, noting that just as people are free to choose any religion or ideology, the Constitution grants her the same right to choose her own path.

Kangana Ranaut says she won't defend her past
The actor further said she wishes to "convert" into a Sanghi, questioning why society should object to this choice when it accepts similar shifts in others without issue. She added that she wouldn't defend her past against criticism, insisting she too has the right to change. She stated, "Jab Hindu betiyon ki baat aati hai… aaj main apne aapko defend nahi karoongi. Main nahi kahoongi ki ji maine item numbers ke khilaaf ya pay parity ke khilaaf ya kabhi badi badi filmon mein kaam nahi kiya, heroes ke khilaaf maine bahishkar kiya, Maine nepotism ke khilaaf ladai li, aap mujhe aisa kaise keh sakte hain? Haan, main ek moderate Hindu thi."(When it comes to Hindu daughters... today I will not defend myself. I will not say that I fought against item numbers or against pay parity or never worked in big films, I boycotted heroes, I fought against nepotism, how can you say this to me? Yes, I was a moderate Hindu)
