What is the pension criteria?
1- International Cricketer
Former male and female cricketers who have played at least 1 international match (Test, ODI or T20I) for India are eligible to receive pension and are given pension by the Board.
2. First-class cricketer
For men’s cricketers, a minimum of 10 first-class matches are required for membership of the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA). However, the BCCI’s monthly pension amount is determined by the number of first-class matches played and the corresponding period. Under the old rules, there were separate pension categories for players with 25–49, 50–74, and 75 or more first-class matches.
3. Women cricketers
Women players who have played international cricket for India are eligible. ICA membership for women first-class cricketers requires playing at least five first-class matches.
4. Former umpire
Eligible former BCCI Test umpires and certain other categories of former umpires also benefit from this scheme. Yes, after retirement, umpires are also provided a pension by the BCCI to help them financially.
Ajinkya Rahane is getting pension from BCCI
Former Indian cricket team star Ajinkya Rahane has retired from all forms of cricket. This pension will continue for Rahane’s entire life, but there is a very important condition.
If Rahane joins the BCCI in any official capacity in the future, such as head coach of the national team, assistant coach, or takes on an administrative/selection role within the Board, his pension will be temporarily suspended as long as he holds that position and receives a regular salary from the Board. His pension will be restored as soon as he steps down from that position.

In addition to the monthly pension, the BCCI also takes full care of the health of former players. Ajinkya Rahane and his family are eligible for a joint medical insurance scheme. Ajinkya Rahane will receive medical insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh.
