Patna. After winning the by-election for Bihar’s most popular and high-profile Bankipur assembly seat, Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, has once again come to the center of national politics. Long recognized as the country’s leading election strategist, Prashant Kishor has also established a strong presence in active electoral politics with this victory. His journey from an expert election strategist to a public representative with the mandate is being seen as a significant shift in Indian politics.

Prashant Kishor was born on March 20, 1977, in Konar village, Rohtas district, Bihar. However, his childhood and early life were primarily spent in Buxar. His father, Dr. Shrikant Pandey, was a government physician, and due to his government service, the family lived for long periods in Buxar and Shahpur. His ancestral home is still in Buxar, where family members reside. Despite his active involvement in politics, Prashant Kishor remains connected to his village and Buxar.

His family comes from a humble background. His father served as a government physician for a long time, while his mother is a homemaker. Most family members are away from public life and politics. According to publicly available information, he has four siblings. His elder brother, Ajay Kishore, is involved in business, while the others are private.

Prashant Kishor’s wife, Dr. Jahnavi Das, is a physician and hails from Guwahati, Assam. It is said that the two met during a United Nations (UN) health program. Their professional acquaintance gradually blossomed into a friendship, and they later married. The couple has a son, Daibik Bhardwaj, according to his election affidavit.

Prashant Kishore’s educational journey has also been remarkable. After receiving his primary education in Bihar, he completed his intermediate studies at Patna Science College. He then earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Lucknow University. After completing his higher education, he worked in the field of public health and, through his involvement with the United Nations, contributed to several national and international projects to health and development.

After working at the United Nations, he entered the field of election strategy and quickly became one of the country’s most renowned political strategists. He gained widespread national recognition after joining the campaign of then-Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He subsequently developed election strategies for various political parties and leaders in various states, leading several successful election campaigns.

In later years, Prashant Kishor moved beyond his role as an election advisor and actively entered Bihar politics. He launched the “Jan Suraj” campaign, undertaking extensive public dialogue tours across the state and focusing on organizational building. Through this campaign, he made development, education, health, employment, and good governance the primary pillars of his political agenda.

His victory in the Bankipur Assembly by-election is being considered a turning point in his political career. This victory has established him not only as a successful election strategist but also as an active political leader elected by the public mandate. Now, political analysts and the general public are closely watching his role in Bihar politics, the expansion of Jan Suraj, and his future political strategy.
