Mega Prince Varun Tej is set to captivate audiences with the horror-comedy entertainer Korean Kanakaraju. The film, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, hits the big screens this Friday. Ritika Nayak plays the female lead. In a recent interview, Varun Tej said that true blue horror isn’t explored properly in Telugu. “I feel complete horror is unexplored in Telugu. There are only a handful of films. There is a huge audience for the horror genre. In that space, we can deliver a solid theatrical experience,” said Varun Tej. He added, “My friends watched Weapons and gave me extremely good feedback about it. I watched it on television at a low volume and liked it. I didn’t feel so scared. The theatrical experience could have been massive. OTTs can’t give the experience theatres deliver for horror films. If a big hero does a horror film, a large number of people will come to theatres. The reach will be massive with a star hero.”
