The special thing is that Maruti Suzuki Dzire has once again won the title of the best selling sedan. Whereas Honda Amaze has kept its name ahead by achieving the fastest growth on yearly basis.
Sedan car sales increased by 10% in June 2026
Information reveals that a total of 31,183 sedan cars were sold nationwide in June 2026, compared to only 28,335 units in June 2025. This translates to a 10.05 percent annual growth in this segment. The 2,848 additional units sold indicate that Indian customers continue to prefer sedans for their style, comfort, and superior driving experience.

Maruti Dzire dominates, alone capturing 57% of the market
It is clearly visible in the figures that Maruti Suzuki Dzire registered sales of 17,899 units in June 2026 which is 15.60 percent more than last year. In this list, Dzire alone has captured 57.40 percent share of the entire sedan segment. This figure clearly shows that Maruti Suzuki’s hold in the compact sedan segment is still very strong. Hyundai Aura was at second place with 5,977 units sold which shows an increase of 10.42 percent in its annual sales.
Honda Amaze becomes the fastest growing sedan
The Honda Amaze, which ranked third on the list, impressed the most. As of June 2026, sales of 2,937 units were recorded, a 29.16 percent increase over the previous year. This marked the largest annual growth among all volume sedans on this list.
The Volkswagen Virtus also made the list, with sales falling 32.79 percent to 1,195 units, marking the biggest decline. However, the Virtus still holds the top spot in the mid-size sedan segment. Meanwhile, the Skoda Slavia saw a 20.87 percent increase in sales to 1,083 units.
These sedans also had a mixed performance.
Additionally, the Honda City saw sales of 745 units, a slight increase of 5.08 percent. Meanwhile, sales of the Tata Tigor/Tigor EV declined to 602 units. Furthermore, sales of the Hyundai Verna declined by 31.86 percent, while the Toyota Camry saw a slight increase of 6.11 percent with sales of 191 units.
In such a situation, looking at the figures of June 2026, it is clearly visible that the demand for SUVs may be increasing rapidly, but due to the right price, better mileage and reliable brand value, sedan cars still remain the first choice of Indian customers.
