Automobile Desk: Toyota’s most popular and powerful full-size SUV in the Indian automobile market, the Fortuner, is all set to hit the roads soon in a new and more premium form. After introducing the new Hilux model, the company is now rapidly working on the plan to launch the next-generation model of its flagship SUV, the Fortuner, in India. It is believed that this new 2026 Toyota Fortuner will make its way to Indian dealerships by the end of next year. It is being built on the new platform of Toyota’s modern Hilux, and several glimpses of it have also been seen during testing in different parts of the country.

Speaking of its exterior and looks, the new Fortuner is expected to look bolder and more aggressive than before. Although the car was completely camouflaged during testing, several key design elements are clearly visible. The car’s front profile features eyebrow-style LED DRLs, sporty split LED headlights, and an all-new front bumper.

Additionally, a wider and more muscular front grille gives the SUV a commanding presence on the road. The rear profile also features a refreshed look with redesigned taillights and a boxy body shell, giving it a more powerful and modern touch.

Customers will see significant and luxurious changes not only on the SUV’s exterior, but also inside its cabin. The interior has been made significantly more premium and tech-loaded than before. The new Fortuner is expected to feature a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen system and a 12.3-inch fully digital driver console.

Apart from this, high-tech features like new electric power steering, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and over-the-air (OTA) updates will also be included to make driving easier and safer.

In terms of performance and engine mechanics, the Hilux is offered internationally with a variety of powertrain options, including hybrid and hydrogen, but the new Fortuner’s engine setup is unlikely to see any major changes in the Indian market. Reports suggest that the new Fortuner will be powered by the same reliable engine as the current model.

It is expected to be offered with a 2.8-liter diesel engine (with both manual and automatic transmissions) and a 2.7-liter petrol engine (with an automatic gearbox). Overall, the new Fortuner looks set to set a new benchmark in its segment once again with its fresh design and advanced safety features.
