New Delhi. The 2026 Commonwealth Games concluded on Sunday after an 11-day run in Glasgow, Scotland. With this, India has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games Centenary edition, marking its centenary year.

The 2030 Commonwealth Games will be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Scottish officials handed over the official CWG flag and baton to the Indian representatives at the closing ceremony.

Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi were present on the stage to witness the moment.

A beautiful fusion of Indo-Scottish culture,
the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony began with a glimpse of Scotland’s rich and complex cultural heritage. A jugalbandhi (jugalbandhi) of musicians and dancers from India and Scotland captivated the stadium crowd with their captivating performances, making the Closing Ceremony memorable.

India finished fourth with 39 medals.
The Indian team left Glasgow feeling extremely satisfied and proud. At the 2026 Games, Indian athletes performed brilliantly, winning a total of 39 medals. These included 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals. This impressive performance placed India fourth in the medal tally.

India on its way to making history
India will create history when it hosts the Commonwealth Games in 2030. After Australia, India will become the second country in the world to host the Games more than once. Previously, India hosted the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.
