The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has provided significant relief to students applying for Class 6 admission for the 2027-28 academic year. The application deadline has now been extended to August 7, 2026. Students who were previously unable to apply for any reason can now take advantage of this extra time. This entrance exam is scheduled for November 28, 2026, with results likely to be declared in March or April 2027. Selected students will gain admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya in their respective districts. Education, accommodation, and various other facilities are provided free of cost at these schools.
**Eligibility Criteria**
To be eligible for Class 6 admission, students must have studied in and passed Classes 3, 4, and 5 at a government, government-aided, or recognized school. Each student gets only one opportunity to take the JNVST. Seventy-five percent of the seats in Navodaya Vidyalayas are reserved for students from rural areas, while the remaining 25 percent are filled based on merit, open to students from both rural and urban areas.
**Exam Pattern**
The entrance exam will last for two hours, held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The question paper will consist of three sections comprising a total of 80 objective-type questions. The exam carries a total of 100 marks.
**Application Process**
To apply, candidates must register on the official website. Subsequently, they need to fill out the application form and upload the required documents. These include the student's photograph, signatures of the student and the guardian, Aadhaar card details, and certificates verified by the principal. It is mandatory to upload all documents in the prescribed JPG format and specified size. After the application is successfully submitted, candidates may retain a printout for future reference.
