Varanasi: A sea of ​​faith surged at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham on the first Monday of Sawan. According to the temple administration, from dawn to late night, over six lakh devotees visited Baba Vishwanath and performed Jalabhishek of Baba Vishwanath. The entire city was filled with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and devotion to Shiva.

A surge of faith on the first Monday of Sawan

On the first Monday of the month of Sawan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kashi was completely filled with Shiva. Long queues of devotees and pilgrims began forming outside the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple early Monday. As soon as the temple doors opened after the Mangala Aarti, a large number of devotees began entering the temple to have darshan and perform Jalabhishek of Baba Vishwanath. The darshan continued throughout the day and late into the night. Chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed from the temple complex to the surrounding streets, immersing the entire city in a devotional atmosphere.

According to the temple administration, more than six lakh devotees visited Baba Vishwanath from dawn until late at night on the first Monday of Sawan. Special arrangements were made in the temple complex for the convenience of the devotees. The administration kept a constant watch on security, crowd management, and darshan arrangements. The temple was beautifully decorated with marigold, jasmine, tuberose, and other fragrant flowers, further enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of the entire complex.

A 94-year-old tradition was also observed on the first Monday of Sawan. The Yadav brothers performed the ritualistic Jalabhishek at the nine major Shiva temples in the city, including the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This tradition is performed every year on the first Monday of Sawan and is considered to be of religious significance. Devotees participated in this tradition with great enthusiasm and devotion.

During the evening Bhog-Shringar Aarti, devotees were given darshan of the Sri Shankar form of Baba Vishwanath. Temple administration and officials welcomed the devotees by showering rose petals. The sound of the drum, the blowing of conch shells, and Shiva hymns filled the atmosphere with devotion. Devotees described it as a memorable spiritual experience of their lives. According to the administration, the darshan arrangements remained peaceful throughout the day, and no major disturbances were reported.
