Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: The badminton hall at KD Singh Babu Stadium and the badminton hall, basketball court, and gym at Chowk Stadium will be renovated. Rs 1.85 crore has been released for the renovation of KD Singh’s badminton hall, and Rs 3 crore has been released for the Rs 6 crore project at Chowk Stadium.
Sports Secretary LY Suhas stated that sports clubs are being formed in council schools under the “Play, Bloom” campaign. Mini stadiums are being built in each tehsil and the “One District, One Sport” scheme in each district is providing training and modern facilities to local sports talent.
The Basic Education Department has released ₹7.82 crore to 1,565 PM Shri council schools in the state to purchase sports equipment. Each school has been given ₹50,000. This amount will be used to purchase sports equipment including cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, table tennis, carrom, and chess.
Under the “Sports for Schools” program, the Secondary Education Department is working to engage students in regular sports activities, provide coaches, scholarships, and increase girl participation. Under the state’s new sports policy, experienced national and international athletes have been given the opportunity to become direct coaches in sports colleges.
The Uttar Pradesh State Sports Authority has been established, modeled after the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Five high-performance centers and 14 centers of excellence are being developed in a phased manner for priority sports, providing scientific training and modern facilities through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
