Williams Sisters Reunite in Cincinnati

MASON, Ohio — Serena and Venus Williams are scheduled to reunite in doubles at the Cincinnati Open as they prepare for the U.S. Open.

Tournament organizers announced Monday that the sisters had received a wild-card entry into the doubles competition, which begins next week.

It will be the first time Serena and Venus have teamed up at the hard-court tournament in Mason, Ohio.

First Doubles Match Together Since 2022

The Williams sisters last played a competitive doubles match together at the 2022 U.S. Open.

They had received a wild card to compete in doubles at Wimbledon, but Serena’s injury prevented them from participating.

The sisters have built one of tennis’ most successful doubles partnerships, winning 14 major championships and three Olympic gold medals together.

Serena Continues Tennis Comeback

The Cincinnati appearance represents the latest stage of Serena’s return to professional tennis at age 44.

She recently competed at Wimbledon, where she lost her first singles match in nearly four years.

Playing alongside Venus in Cincinnati will give Serena additional hard-court competition ahead of the U.S. Open in New York.

Venus Plans US Open Mixed Doubles Appearance

Venus, 46, is also scheduled to compete in mixed doubles at the U.S. Open later this month.

She will partner with Alexander Bublik in New York.

The Cincinnati Open will provide another opportunity for the Williams sisters to return to competition together before the year’s final Grand Slam tournament.
