August 2026 New Car Launches: Every year, August brings a buzz to the auto industry, and this year is no exception. If you are planning to buy a new car, this month promises to be nothing short of a festival for you. From electric SUVs to updated sedans and limited-edition models, there is something special for everyone. August 2026 is set to be a significant month for the Indian auto market, featuring the launch of several new SUVs, electric cars, and updated models. Let’s take a look at the details of these major launches.
MG Cyberster and M9 Couture Edition
Let’s start with MG Motor, which launched the new ‘Couture Edition’ of the Cyberster and M9 in the Indian market on August 3rd. While pre-bookings for both models are already underway, the real highlight is that the company has produced only 50 units of each.
These limited-edition models are akin to works of art. They have been designed in collaboration with renowned designer Gaurav Gupta, a touch clearly visible in both their exteriors and interiors. Notably, the engine, battery, and mechanical setups remain unchanged, and sales will be exclusive to MG Select dealerships.
Mahindra Vision S
True to form, Mahindra is preparing a major surprise for Independence Day. The ‘Vision S’ is generating the most buzz, as the company is expected to unveil it as a production-ready model.
The Vision S will feature a boxy, robust design that instantly evokes the feel of an off-roading SUV. It is built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform. This platform is considered its greatest strength, as it supports a wide range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric options.
Scorpio N
Mahindra isn’t just launching new SUVs; it is also set to update the Scorpio N, one of its most powerful SUVs. The vehicle has recently been spotted at various dealerships, further fueling expectations of an imminent launch. It will not be a full-fledged facelift model but rather a ‘model year’ update. It is expected to come with several new features, such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, a redesigned centre console, and a 65W Type-C fast-charging port.
Skoda Slavia
August is set to be a special month for sedan enthusiasts as well. Skoda is likely to launch an updated version of its popular Slavia around August 18.
Both the design and features of the new Slavia have been enhanced. It is expected to feature a new illuminated grille, updated bumpers, new alloy wheels, and striking LED taillamps. Inside the cabin, premium features such as a larger touchscreen and a rear-seat massage function will offer a more luxurious experience than before.
Volvo EX90
In the realm of premium electric cars, the Volvo EX90 is set to debut in the Indian market this month. It will serve as Volvo’s flagship electric SUV and is considered the all-electric counterpart to the popular XC90.
Globally, the EX90 is available with two battery options. The 106 kWh battery pack, paired with a dual-motor setup, delivers approximately 680 bhp of power and 780 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the variant with the 92 kWh battery produces 333 bhp and 480 Nm of torque.
The SUV is also impressive in terms of range. The larger battery pack offers approximately 608 kilometres of range on a single charge, while the smaller battery pack claims around 565 kilometres. Its entry into the premium electric SUV segment promises to be quite interesting.
