The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has prohibited the sale of several Dabur food products for carrying misleading “100 percent” claims on their labels. The regulator also noted that Dabur Hommade Coconut Milk displayed the claim “100% Purity.” Meanwhile, Dabur Himalayan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Dabur Organic Honey were found carrying the Jaivik Bharat logo without a valid FSSAI endorsement.

Dabur’s response

After FSSAI bans Dabur products, the company said it is reviewing the content on the products identified by the regulator. Dabur added that it is examining the observations and taking appropriate steps wherever necessary.

FSSAI widens crackdown

The latest order comes as FSSAI strengthens enforcement against misleading food and beverage claims. The regulator recently prohibited the sale of select whisky and rum brands manufactured by Diageo India’s unit and Inbrew Beverages after tests allegedly found artificial flavouring instead of proper ageing methods.

FSSAI also suspended the licence of Tripura-based Matri Drinking Water over the presence of foreign materials in packaged drinking water. In another case, it issued a prohibition order against Punjab-based Noble Healthcare for alleged violations of food safety laws.
