Udaynidhi Stalin First Reaction After Released: The political temperature of the state has completely risen after the arrest of DMK leader and Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly Udayanidhi Stalin. He was taken into custody by Thanjavur police for allegedly making objectionable remarks on actress Trisha Krishnan and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. However, he was released after 90 minutes of interrogation. Udayanidhi’s first reaction has come out after his release. While talking to the journalists, he termed his arrest and the entire incident as a ‘comedy’ and said that he is fully prepared to fight the legal battle.

A video of Udhayanidhi Stalin addressing a public meeting in Thanjavur regarding the Cauvery water dispute quickly went viral. While he was raising the issue of Cauvery river water, some members of the crowd began calling the actress by name. Udhayanidhi’s comments in response sparked controversy.

TVK’s accusation against Stalin

The ruling TVK and the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that the comment was double-meaning and anti-women. Based on a complaint by the TVK Mahila Morcha, police registered a case against Udhayanidhi under nine sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 196 (promoting enmity between groups), 296(B) (obscenity in a public place) and the IT Act.

Stalin dismissed the allegations.

Immediately after his detention, Udhayanidhi Stalin categorically denied the allegations against him. He stated that his statement had been misrepresented through “cut, copy, and paste” and that he had not even named any individual. Speaking to the media, he said, “I have not said anything wrong or named anyone personally. I am not afraid of the fake news that is being spread. I see this police action as a mere comedy. I am ready to face any legal process, no matter what tactics the government uses.”

Political turmoil intensifies in Tamil Nadu

Udhayanidhi’s arrest has sparked political unrest across Tamil Nadu. DMK workers protested strongly against the police action, calling it political vendetta. DMK MP Kanimozhi described the government’s action as cowardly, saying it was taken to prevent the opposition leader from participating in the upcoming assembly session.

On the other hand, the BJP and other opposition parties supported the police action, stating that the use of indecent and obscene language against any woman in public life is unacceptable. The case has now reached the Madras High Court, where the legal battle continues.
