Liverpool are now considering an ambitious double move for Paris Saint-Germain wingers Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.

The Reds have already been working on a deal to take Barcola to Anfield, even though it is understood to be a transfer that could prove extremely expensive to complete.

It has been indicated that Liverpool are not rushing to finalise that move, as they want to ensure that any deal for Barcola is financially sensible.

However, manager Andoni Iraola has made it clear that attacking reinforcements are needed and, with a Mohamed Salah-sized gap to address, Liverpool are looking for more than only Barcola.

According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool are now “pushing to sign” teenage winger Mbaye from PSG.

Liverpool “want both” Barcola and Mbaye at Anfield this summer, and talks over a move for Mbaye are expected to start soon after the winger gave the Reds the green signal for a transfer.

Mbaye, 18, is eager to join Liverpool, who fit what the young attacker is looking for as he seeks a way out of PSG this summer.

People close to him have been trying to persuade him to remain at the Parc des Princes, but Mbaye wants to leave.

West Ham United had been interested in signing Mbaye, but their relegation to the Championship appears to have ended those hopes.

Aston Villa are also among the clubs that admire Mbaye, while Roma have been keen as well, but Liverpool’s arrival in the race is likely to alter the situation and place them in pole position.

There is still no indication of what fee PSG could demand for Mbaye, but if Liverpool complete deals for both him and Barcola, the overall spending would almost certainly be significant.

Mbaye came through PSG’s youth system, but establishing himself as a regular in the first team at the Parc des Princes has proved difficult.

He was left on the bench as an unused substitute in all but four of PSG’s Champions League matches and did not feature in any of the knockout-stage games during their run to the final.

Mbaye will want to avoid finding himself in the same situation next season, though he is likely to believe he can battle for a place in Iraola’s Liverpool side.
