David Ornstein has revealed that Manchester United’s “two main” priorities in the transfer market are midfield and left-back, while the club have also been told they would need to put forward a £60m offer to land a Juventus star.

Manchester United are expected to complete several more deals in this summer’s transfer window after already bringing in Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow.

The Red Devils were always likely to focus heavily on reshaping their midfield after Casemiro left on a free transfer, and it has been widely reported that they still want to add a third new midfielder following the arrivals of Tielemans and Santos.

However, Michael Carrick’s side are also looking to strengthen in other areas, with suggestions that they could move for a left-back, a winger and/or a striker over the coming weeks.

Ornstein has now explained what Manchester United’s current two leading priorities are in the market.

Speaking on The Athletic FC podcast, Ornstein said: “At the beginning of the summer, I thought that #MUFC were going to be the BUSIEST team in the market. Just because there’s so much work that needs to be done.”

He added: “Midfield and left-back are two of the MAIN areas of importance for them in the market.”

At left-back, Newcastle United standout Lewis Hall has been mentioned as one of the main targets, but Ornstein has made it clear that the Red Devils are not expected to sign him in this window.

Ornstein added: “I do NOT expect Lewis Hall to be coming to Man United.

“Following the departure of Eddie Howe, Newcastle will be MORE determined to keep him, maybe even tie him down to a new contract.”

Further forward, Juventus attacker Francisco Conceicao has also been discussed as a possible signing, while Joshua Zirkzee could head in the opposite direction.

Zirkzee has spoken about the possibility of returning to Italy. Juventus and Manchester United are in talks as they try to work out a deal, although the Dutchman is on high wages. At the same time, the English club have shifted their focus towards Conceicao, but Juventus have set his valuation at around seventy million. There is, of course, no discussion over a swap deal, but the relationship between the clubs is good, helped by Jorge Mendes, and talks remain open, especially as Juventus feel that position is already covered.

However, Fabrizio Romano has played down the chances of that move happening.
