Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress MLAs created a ruckus in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly for the third consecutive day over the alleged theft of offerings for the Ram Temple and the recruitment of 69,000 teachers . As a result, the four-day monsoon session was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, a day ahead of schedule. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana appeared deeply distressed by the opposition’s conduct in the House, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath termed the uproar as shameful.
The atmosphere became serious due to the statement of Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana.
Amid the opposition uproar, the atmosphere in the House turned tense for a while today, when Speaker Satish Mahana expressed deep sorrow over Tuesday’s events and said he would seriously consider whether he was fit for the post. But soon, the uproar erupted again.
The government passed several bills along with the supplementary budget without discussion.
Amid this uproar, the government passed the supplementary budget and several bills without discussion. Following this, a report on the Sambhal riots was tabled, and the House adjourned indefinitely at around 1:30 p.m.
CM Yogi said – the conduct of the opposition is anti-poor and anti-women
Immediately after the House was adjourned, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his displeasure over the opposition’s uproar, saying, “The opposition’s conduct in the House is shameful. These people are anti-democracy, and this is their true face.” CM Yogi also said that the opposition members’ disruption of the Assembly session is a grave injustice to the state’s youth, farmers, women, and the poor. This was done to prevent the government from announcing new schemes for the poor and women, and to prevent the government from announcing new programs for their welfare.
“We have brought a supplementary budget of Rs 59,019.54 crore for the development of the state and the welfare of the poor .”
CM Yogi said, “We presented a supplementary budget of ₹59,019.54 crore for the state’s development and the welfare of the poor, but due to the negative attitude of the Samajwadi Party, the issues of self-reliance for youth, farmers, and women could not be discussed in the House. Their conduct is anti-youth, anti-farmer, anti-women, and anti-poor.”
The future of Shikshamitras and instructors was played with during the SP regime.
Expressing his displeasure with SP leaders, CM Yogi also said, “During the Akhilesh government, the future of Shikshamitras and instructors was compromised. Our government increased the honorarium of Shikshamitras from 10,000 to 18,000 rupees and provided them with cashless treatment up to five lakh rupees. The honorarium of instructors was increased from 9,000 rupees to 17,000 rupees. We also brought demands for honorarium increases and new welfare schemes for all these categories in this session, but the SP continuously obstructed this.”
Assembly Speaker Mahana became emotional
Before CM Yogi’s statement, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana became emotional in the House. He was pained by the fact that during the uproar in the House on Tuesday, SP MLA Sachin Yadav had to be ordered expelled from the House for the entire session. Satish Mahana expressed his anguish in the House.
He said, “This is the final phase of my political career. Now I must seriously consider whether I am worthy of the position of Assembly Speaker. I am deeply saddened. For the first time, I feel that either our efforts fell short or Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is right when he said that the flaw lies not in the Constitution but in the people who administer it.”
He claimed, “For the past four and a half years, I have tried to run the House with dignity and dialogue, but after recent events, I feel the need for introspection. I will seriously consider whether what I did was appropriate. I will make a decision in this regard soon.”
Running the House is the government’s responsibility: Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad
While the Chief Minister took cognizance of the allegations, Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey said that the House was not adjourned indefinitely due to the opposition’s uproar, but rather to avoid having to answer the questions being asked by the opposition. Opposition members in the House were demanding answers from the government regarding the theft of offerings for the Ram Temple. What was wrong with that? The government should have responded, but it continued to try to evade accountability.
The government called the House only to pass the supplementary budget.
Mata Prasad said that the government had actually called the House solely to pass a supplementary budget, and in just 24 hours passed a supplementary budget of ₹59,019.54 crore without any discussion. This is the government’s behavior, and the Chief Minister attributes the poor conduct to the opposition.
