The hardliners were upset with Sheikh Hasina’s participation in the event.
New Delhi: Unidentified individuals hurled petrol bombs at the ancestral home of former Bangladesh cricket captain and former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan on Wednesday night, hours after he attended a virtual press conference held by Sheikh Hasina in Delhi.
The attack occurred at around 8:45 a.m. local time at his ancestral home in the Keshabmod area of Magura town. The house was also vandalized. The incident occurred shortly after Sheikh Hasina held a virtual press conference at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in New Delhi. Shakib Al Hasan also attended the press conference virtually. The party described it as part of an ongoing campaign against Awami League workers.
At a press conference, Sheikh Hasina said she was determined to return to Bangladesh in December. “My return is not for power, but to put Bangladesh back on the path of development, secularism and prosperity,” she said.
