Tata Nexon, one of the carmaker’’s best-selling models has just got its newest CAMO Edition. It has a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. It comes in five trims- Creative, Creative+S. Creative+PS, Fearless+PS and Fearles+ A PS. The CAMO edition has always been about blending seamlessly with nature and its colours.

The overall design remains unchanged/. Tata’s CAMO range used to come finished in a Military-style Green colour. With the Nexon CAMO, things are a bit different. It is offered in two exclusive colour options- Munnar Mist and Coorg Clouds. These, if you see, are colours borrowed from the new Sierra and Sierra.EV. They look good on the Nexon as well.

The Munnar Mist is a colour that has a dual personality. It looks like dark Green when there is enough light and Grey in the shadow. The Coorg Clouds is a contemporary Silver-Grey colours. The Nexon CAMO edition rides on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Another important detail is the CAMO badging. You’ll see them on the front fenders.

The CAMO edition is available in all powertrain options- petrol, diesel and CNG. The petrol version is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 120PS and 170Nm. This makes the Nexon the most powerful petrol offering in its segment. Manual, AMT and DCA (dual-clutch) automatic transmissions are available with this engine. Manual gearbox option is available on all trims except the Fearless+ A PS Camo. Lower variants get the option of the AMT while the DCA is offered on Creative+PS CAMO and Fearless+ A PS CAMO.

The diesel version gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 115PS and 260Nm. It is offered with the choice of a manual and an AMT automatic transmission. Diesel engine is only offered on the Creative and Creative+ S trims. The automatic variants come with paddle shifters for a more engaging drive experience.

The CNG version uses the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine as its base and makes 100PS and 170Nm. It comes only with a manual transmission and is available on all trims except the Fearless+ A PS. It features a twin-cylinder technology. This packages the CNG in two inter-connected cylinders, instead of a single large unit. This generates more usable boot space. Tata claims a boot space of 321 litres on the Nexon CAMO iCNG. The total CNG capacity is 60 litres (30+30). The vehicle is capable of starting in CNG and also supports faster refuelling.

The Nexon is an SUV that is famous for its safety standards. Even the CAMO edition comes with six airbags and a slew of other safety features. The Nexon has been crash-tested by both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP programs. It scored full five-star safety ratings in both these tests.

new maruti brezza front

Maruti Suzuki, in a recent update, introduced a turbocharged petrol engine on the Brezza- the primary rival to the Nexon in India. The new Brezza has sharp pricing and a revised feature list. These bring it closer to the Nexon in terms of overall appeal. The CAMO edition has pumped fresh appeal into the Nexon and is expected to reflect well in sales as well. Tata’s previous CAMO models had good number of takers in India. This is likely to be no different.
