Before the Test series between India and Sri Lanka, starting on August 15th, learn about the current standings of both teams in the ICC Test rankings. Also, check out the positions of Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand.

IND vs SL Test Series: India and Sri Lanka will play a two-match Test series starting August 15th, part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Both teams will be looking to make a strong start to their campaigns. Ahead of this match, all eyes are on the ICC Test team rankings.

Interestingly, neither India nor Sri Lanka is among the top three teams in the current Test rankings. However, the outcome of this series could impact the ratings and rankings of both teams. Therefore, this series is considered crucial not only for the WTC points table but also for the ICC Test rankings.

IND vs SL: Team India ranked fourth in the ICC Test rankings

In the current ICC Test rankings, the Indian team is ranked fourth with 104 rating points. Team India is currently outside the top three, but if they win both Tests against Sri Lanka, their rating could improve and they will try to move up. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is ranked sixth with 76 rating points. This means India has the upper hand in terms of rankings, but this series will be crucial for both teams.

IND vs SL: Australia No. 1, South Africa and New Zealand in the top three

Australia currently holds the top spot in the ICC Test rankings with 131 rating points. The Kangaroo team maintains a significant lead over the other teams. South Africa is in second place with 119 rating points, while New Zealand is in third place with 106 rating points. India is in fourth place, which clearly indicates that it will need to consistently perform better to return to the top three.

IND vs SL: The Australia-Bangladesh series could also change the rankings

In addition to the India-Sri Lanka series, a two-match Test series will also be played between Australia and Bangladesh. The first match of this series will begin on August 13th. If Australia wins both matches, their number-1 position could be further strengthened. Rating points may also change depending on the performance of other teams.

IND vs SL: Rankings will also be in focus along with the WTC

For both India and Sri Lanka, this series (IND vs SL) will not be limited to just earning World Test Championship points. Both teams will also seek to improve their Test ratings through improved performances. Consequently, the Test series starting in August will clearly impact the WTC points table as well as the ICC Test rankings.
