India finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games with 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Indian para athletes contributed significantly by winning 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, marking the nation’s best-ever para athletics showing at the Commonwealth Games and ending a 20-year wait for an Indian para athletics podium finish.

At the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships hosted in Delhi, Indian players dominated most events and secured numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals.

During the inauguration of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation’s (SDF) inaugural STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Lab at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Pitampura, the Delhi Chief Minister praised the country’s sporting successes. She stated, “Recently in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games as well, you saw the major achievements India made, how many gold and other medals we won and brought back. So, I can believe that our country India, which is a nation of youth–if the children here get the opportunity, the facilities, and the platform–they have the strength to reach the highest levels; they have that caliber and that capability.”

Gupta also congratulated the organisers of the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships in Delhi, noting that India won approximately 80 per cent of the medals. She said, “Recently, a very big… not just in the country, but in Delhi, a very big Commonwealth Games Table Tennis Championship was organised by you; I congratulate you for that as well. And in that Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship which was hosted in Delhi itself and organised by the Delhi government, I am happy to share that 80 per cent of the prizes and medals were won by Bharat (India).”

The Shikhar Dhawan Foundation’s STEM Lab was launched in partnership with the Government of NCT of Delhi, with support from Human Mobile Devices (HMD) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The event was attended by senior representatives from Da One Group.

Shikhar Dhawan expressed pride in the foundation’s partnership with HMD to promote quality digital education for children in Delhi, highlighting the importance of STEM education. He said, “I am very happy that the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation has embarked on this path. And thanks to HMD, who partnered with SDF so that we can deliver quality education to the children of Delhi. Digital education is very important for SDF, and today STEM education is the next step in this journey. Da One Group is equally committed to both areas: sports and education. Delhi has to be made not just an education hub, but also the sports capital. And as a son of Delhi, I feel really proud.”

Dhawan added, “And finally, I want to say one thing to the children today: that this STEM lab is not just about providing computers or equipment, but it is for you, for your ideas, to fulfill your dreams. And my heartfelt request to all of you is to dream big and work hard. We also came from a small background; we dreamed from there, we worked very hard on it. So don’t just dream, but it also requires equal hard work. May everyone study well, play well, and together let’s make our country the ‘Golden Bird’ once again.”
