Udala: A diarrhoea outbreak has been reported from the SSD Girls’ High School hostel in Badasimulia under Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
According to information, 275 students reside in the SSD hostel. Fish and rice were served to the inmates last night in the dinner. Soon after, several students began complaining of stomach pain. By today morning, many of them started suffering from vomiting and loose motions. Some students fell seriously ill.
The affected inmates were rushed to Kaptipada hospital for treatment. Currently, more than 19 inmates are undergoing treatment at the medical facility.
Meanwhile, a medical team from Kaptipada has reached the school and is examining the health condition of all the hostel inmates.
Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the outbreak. An investigation is underway to determine whether it was due to irregularities in food or some other reason.
