Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, addressing a rally in Mumbai on Sunday, said the struggle to replace the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government must begin now. Taking a dig at the BJP, he said the fight must begin now to replace a government that is unaccountable.
Addressing the rally, Uddhav Thackeray cited irregularities in the NEET exam and the student suicides to it, accusing the government of robbing the future of young people. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike in Delhi for 22 days over these issues.
The government has snatched away the future of the youth.
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that this fight isn’t just about climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, but that this government has stolen the future of young people. Thackeray made this significant statement criticizing the government a day before the start of the monsoon session of Parliament.
‘This government is not accountable’
It should be noted that recently, six Lok Sabha MPs from Thackeray’s party switched sides and joined the Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Thackeray said, “The fight to change this unaccountable government must begin now. This fight is not just about Sonam Wangchuk.”
Uddhav Thackeray questioned how Wangchuk, who built solar-heated tents for soldiers working in sub-zero temperatures and constructed ice stupas to solve the water problem in Ladakh, could be called anti-national.
Serious allegations leveled against Prime Minister Modi
He said the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, led by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had sent a delegation to negotiate with social activist Anna Hazare during his indefinite fast in 2011. Thackeray asked, “So why didn’t the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi do the same in Wangchuk’s case?”
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike since June 28 over the issue of alleged irregularities in NEET and suicide of several students after the exam question paper was cancelled earlier.
