Automobile Desk: After the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Britain, a major change is being seen in the luxury car market of the country. Famous British automobile manufacturer Aston Martin has announced a historic reduction in the prices of its vehicles in the Indian market. By passing on the benefit of the exemption in custom duty and tax rates directly to the Indian customers, the company has reduced the prices of its selected models by up to ₹4.02 crore.
The biggest benefit in Aston Martin’s premium range has been seen on the company’s flagship model ‘Vanquish Volante’. Earlier this car was available at an ex-showroom price of ₹10.92 crore, which has now been reduced to ₹6.90 crore after a huge reduction. This means that buyers will get a direct saving of ₹4.02 crore on this model alone. Apart from this, the price of ‘Vanquish Coupe’ has also been reduced by ₹3.71 crore, which will make it more accessible among supercar lovers.
The company has significantly reduced the prices of not only its top-end variants but also its popular SUVs and sporty models. The Aston Martin DBX S, a much-loved performance SUV in India, has now seen its price reduced by ₹2.65 crore. Meanwhile, the luxury sports car DB12 S has seen its price reduced by ₹2.64 crore.
This decision also brings great relief to fans of the company’s entry-level sports car series, the Vantage. The price of the Aston Martin Vantage S has been reduced by ₹1.84 crore, making it available for ₹3.15 crore. Similarly, the price of its open-top variant, the Vantage S Roadster, has been reduced by ₹1.91 crore to ₹3.35 crore.
After the India-UK FTA came into effect, the import duty on British cars coming to India as CBU (Completely Built Unit) has been reduced considerably. Before Aston Martin, leading British companies like Jaguar Land Rover (Range Rover SV and Sport SV), McLaren (750S series) and Bentley (Bentayga) have also released new and reduced prices of their luxury cars. According to auto experts, such concession in import duty will rapidly grow India’s ultra-luxury and supercar segment and competition among global companies will become more intense.
