Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has targeted the central government for allowing the mixing of ethanol and other synthetic hydrocarbons in Aviation Turbine Fuel. He claimed that the use of such fuel could raise questions about aircraft safety. Kejriwal asked, “Would you like to travel in a flight that is running on adulterated oil?” He further claimed that if the quality of the fuel is affected, serious situations like engine failure during flight could arise.
Recently, the central government allowed the blending of ethanol and other synthetic hydrocarbons into aircraft fuel. Expressing concern over this decision, he said it could pose a risk of impacting aircraft engine performance. Kejriwal said the time has come for the country’s government to be in the hands of competent and educated individuals. He alleged that such decisions are being made without adequate understanding and consideration of the long-term implications that could impact public safety.
Kejriwal attempted to portray the blending of ethanol and other hydrocarbons in ATF as dangerous, saying it could increase the risks associated with aircraft operations. He questioned people whether they would prefer to travel on a flight running on blended fuel. Kejriwal claimed that safety should be the top priority in the aviation sector and that any new fuel policy should be thoroughly discussed before implementing it. He said that no risk should be taken when it comes to passenger safety.
The political turmoil continues over E20 petrol.
Amid the controversy surrounding the blending of ethanol and other synthetic hydrocarbons in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), the issue of E20 petrol has remained at the center of political debate. Kejriwal has long opposed the E20 petrol policy. Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party allege that blending 20 percent ethanol (E20) in petrol could adversely affect vehicles and impose additional financial burdens on consumers. The party has been continuously cornering the central government on this issue.
Several opposition parties are also questioning the E20 policy and demanding clarification from the government on its implications. Protests and public awareness campaigns have been held on this issue in recent days. Kejriwal himself has been raising his objections through press conferences, public meetings, and protest marches. He recently attempted to march to the Prime Minister’s residence, demanding the withdrawal of the E20 petrol policy. The Aam Aadmi Party says it will continue its protest campaign on this issue.

Kejriwal questioned the government’s decision and advised people to be aware of the potential risks. He said that if decisions to aviation fuel directly impact passenger safety, the government should maintain complete transparency on this issue.
