Gurugram Waterlogging : Due to heavy rains since last night, the city of Gurugram has turned into a river. Water has accumulated everywhere from Old Gurugram to New Gurugram. Crores of rupees are spent on drainage every year, yet the condition of the city is such that one cannot even walk. Water is everywhere in Gurugram. Even the posh areas of Gurugram are not spared. Parks in Sushant Lok Phase 2 and Phase 3 of Gurugram are flooded, while water has entered people’s homes in Sectors 40 and 46. Amidst growing criticism over the massive waterlogging following heavy rains, the Haryana government on Thursday transferred Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MCG) Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya to Rohtak as Deputy Commissioner.

The appeal of work from home

The overnight rainfall of 97 mm recorded till Thursday morning inundated several key areas, including the unidirectional underpass near Medanta Hospital and Narsinghpur on National Highway-48, leading to traffic jams. In view of the continuous rain and the Indian Meteorological Department’s ‘Orange Alert’ for August 6, the Gurugram district administration issued an advisory asking corporate offices and private institutions to allow employees to work from home (WFH) on August 6 and 7.

Somewhere the vehicles got stuck, somewhere they stopped

A bus broke down and got stuck in Gurugram’s Rajiv Chowk underpass due to waterlogging. It was pulled out with the help of a Gurugram Police crane. Due to incessant rain today, areas in Gurugram’s Sector 51, Sector 50, Sheetla Mata Road, Sector 46, Sector 40, Sushant Lok Phase 3, Sushant Lok Phase 2, Sector 15, and Sector 12 were flooded, making it difficult for drivers to pass through.

The excessive water caused many vehicles to stall. A woman living in Sector 40 explained that during rains, the area becomes so flooded that any vehicle passing by is forced into homes. Furthermore, water even enters the basements of homes, which are then pumped out.

Sector 10 turned into a river

 Roads are flooded at many places, so everyone was urged to work from home to reduce the pressure of vehicles on the roads and avoid traffic jams. Sector 10 turned into a river. Due to continuous rain this morning, Sector 10 of Gurugram has turned into a river, and many pictures of this have emerged. The water has accumulated so much that drivers are finding it difficult to move, and many vehicles have even stopped.

More than 60% of Haryana’s revenue

Note that despite spending billions of rupees every year, the city is simply flooded, leaving Gurugram with only problems. Gurugram generates over 60% of Haryana’s revenue, yet Gurugram remains flooded in the name of development.
