In its advisory, the weather department stated that at least 15 districts are set to receive thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning along with heavy rainfall. It asserted that an active cyclonic circulation continues to influence weather conditions across Odisha.

Heavy Rain Expected

While providing details, the weather department stated that Mayurbhanj is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday. Along with the intense rain, the residents of Mayurbhanj are also likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning. The continuous rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief from humidity.

As per the IMD, other districts, including Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri, are likely to witness light to moderate rain in the coming days.

IMD Issues Advisory

The intense rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences to the daily commuters. The weather experts stated that the intensity of rain has increased as an upper-air cyclonic circulation is currently active over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby regions.

Apart from this, another cyclonic circulation is present over south Gangetic West Bengal, leading to heavy rainfall in the eastern states. In its advisory, the weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Rain Likely In Other States

The IMD has also advised the farmers and fishermen to stay updated and avoid the financial activities in coming days, especially during the rain. As per the advisory, several other states, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rain in the coming days.
