Thailand: A 14-year-old student opened fire at a high school outside Bangkok on Friday morning, killing five school staff members and injuring 23 people before taking his own life, authorities said. Officials said the teenager had apparently killed his two grandparents at their home before the school shooting.

The shooting took place around 10 am at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok. Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee said five staff members, including teachers and administrators, were killed.

Suwunchwee said the student had also killed his grandparents at their home before heading to the school.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who visited the school after the attack, confirmed that the shooter was 14 and had killed himself. He said the teenager, who lived with his grandparents, had shown signs of stress linked to school.
