Arsenal are signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, and the full financial details of the deal have not all been disclosed publicly.

Arsenal are expected to pay Newcastle United more for Bruno Guimaraes than has so far been revealed in public.

FourFourTwo understands that the transfer for the Brazil international is virtually complete, with the midfielder set to sign his contract with the Gunners and bring one of the summer's longest-running sagas to a close.

However, although Arsenal have succeeded in bringing Newcastle down from the €100 million they received for Sandro Tonali, the final fee is not quite as low as some reports have suggested, according to sources in Brazil.

ESPN Brazil journalist Bruno Andrade has now offered an update on Mikel Arteta's latest signing, having previously said that the move was nearly wrapped up by the weekend.

"There are a lot of details involved in this transfer and many bonuses that Newcastle are not planning to make public," he explained.

"I've spoken to people who took part in the negotiations, and there is actually more money involved in the agreement between the clubs."

The transfer is said to be worth around £80 million in total, with FourFourTwo understanding that the two clubs have effectively settled somewhere between the £60m initially offered by the North London club for a player entering the final year of his contract and the £100m valuation set by Newcastle.

Bonuses linked to winning another Premier League title, as well as that still-elusive first-ever Champions League triumph, are almost certainly part of the package, while there may also be an additional payment due once Bruno reaches a certain number of appearances.

Interestingly, the champions appear to want to amortise the fee over four years rather than five, which would mean payments of £20m per season to Newcastle instead of £16m.

According to Andrade, Bruno will sign a four-year contract with Arsenal, with the option of a fifth year available once the deal reaches its end, perhaps taking his age into account.

The Rio-born playmaker turns 29 in November, and Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta may be keen to avoid a repeat of the situation involving Bruno's fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus.

Like Guimaraes, Jesus arrived at Arsenal during his peak years, but after injuries took a toll on him physically, the club have found it difficult to move him on this summer, four years into his contract, and may have to retain the forward and his substantial wages for one more year.

Guimaraes is valued at €70m, according to Transfermarkt. It will be champions against champions on the opening day of the Premier League season, with Arsenal taking on Coventry City on Matchday 1.
