After months of talks and deadlock, Real Madrid have finally secured the long-term future of superstar Vinicius Jr, who has now put pen to paper on a six-year deal with the club.

“Real Madrid CF and Vinicius Jr. have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who is now tied to the club until June 30, 2032,” the club said in an official statement.

Real Madrid and Vinicius had been negotiating a new contract for more than a year, without being able to make any significant breakthrough.

Demands related to salary and a renewal bonus were at the heart of the stand-off between the two sides, but the situation shifted completely this week during a meeting on Wednesday.

With Vinicius having moved into the final year of his existing contract at the club, Arsenal entered the picture in an attempt to sign the Brazilian forward.

Given the Gunners’ firm interest, Real Madrid chose to improve their contract proposal for Vinicius, even though it did not fully satisfy the demands he had made earlier.

After the positive discussions on Wednesday, both parties worked through the finer points and have now officially confirmed the extension through to 2032.

After the renewal was announced, Vinicius responded by sharing the confirmation with the following message:

“Eight years at the Bernabeu are too short… 6 more years and forever!”

The 26-year-old winger has consistently maintained that he views Real Madrid as the club of his life and has always prioritised staying at the Bernabeu.

Now that the contract issue has finally been settled, both Vinicius and Real Madrid will be hoping for a successful season after two difficult campaigns in a row.
