EV Sales India: 3.27 lakh electric vehicles sold in July 2026, sales set a new record

New Delhi. The demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is continuously increasing in the country. Retail sales of electric vehicles touched a new record of 3,27,901 units in July 2026. This is 66 percent more than in July last year. This information was given by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) in the data released on Friday. With this achievement, now almost every eighth vehicle sold in India is electric. Earlier, a record of retail sales of 3,06,220 electric vehicles was made in June 2026, which was surpassed in July.

EV share exceeds 12% for the first time

According to FADA, due to continuously increasing demand, the share of electric vehicles in total vehicle sales has reached more than 12 percent for the first time.

Biggest jump in sales of two-wheeler electric vehicles

The highest growth was recorded in the sales of electric two-wheelers in July 2026.

  • July 2025: 1,08,516 units
  • Growth: 88.32%
Sales of electric cars also increased rapidly

Retail sales of electric passenger vehicles also remained strong.

  • July 2025: 17,981 units
  • Growth: 83.13%
Demand for three-wheelers and commercial EVs also increased

  • July 2025: 69,477 units

What did FADA say?

“India sold more electric vehicles in July 2026 than ever before in any other month. 327,901 electric vehicles were sold in July, a 66 per cent year-on-year increase,” FADA Vice President Sai Giridhar said, adding that these figures reflect the growing acceptance of electric mobility in the country and the rapidly increasing demand in the market.
