Indian Army Internship 2026: For the first time, the Indian Army has launched the Indian Army Internship Program (IAIP) for students across the country. Under this initiative, 43 specialized internship projects have been made available on the AICTE National Internship Portal. The program has received tremendous support from students, with over 77,000 applications received so far.
Selected students will receive a monthly honorarium of up to ₹75,000, up to 15 AICTE-approved academic credits, and the opportunity to work with Indian Army establishments. Interns will gain hands-on experience in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, robotics, drones, enterprise software systems, computer vision, hospital information systems, strategic communications, and combat simulation.

Internship opportunities are available in various establishments of the Indian Army including DGIS, Indian Army Design Bureau, DG Signals, EME Directorate, Directorate General Medical Services (Army), Directorate General Army Air Defence, Directorate General Capability Development, Indian Army Directorate of Veterans, Infantry Directorate, WARDEC and ADG Strategic Communications.
More than 77 thousand applications so far
According to the AICTE’s National Internship Portal, over 77,085 applications have been received so far for 43 Indian Army projects. Of these, the application process is still ongoing for approximately 18 projects. This is the first time the Indian Army has launched an internship program for students on such a large scale.
Highlights of the program
Internship Duration: 75 days (60 days on-site + 15 days work from home)
Honorarium: Up to ₹75,000 on successful completion of the internship
Academic Credits: Up to 15 AICTE credits
Guidance: Training from Indian Army officers and subject experts
Eligibility: Students pursuing AICTE approved technical and professional courses (as per project)

Dr. Buddha Chandrashekhar, Chief Executive Officer of Anuwadani Foundation and Chief Coordinating Officer of AICTE, Ministry of Education, said that this is a historic initiative by the Indian Army, providing, for the first time, the country’s brightest students with the opportunity to directly contribute to the defense and technology sectors. He said that this program will inspire youth to serve the nation through innovation and technology.
