Handicraft Success Story: Every year, thousands of young people move abroad for better careers and higher salaries, but some choose to leave secure jobs and pursue their dreams and heritage. Ibn Ahmed, a resident of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has a similar story. He left a well-paying job in Dubai to give his family’s traditional handicraft business a modern identity. Today, his brand, “Safina Handicraft,” has established itself not only in India but also in many other countries.

Ibne Ahmed completed his Electronics and Communication Engineering degree from Bhopal. He then landed a job in Dubai, where he worked for nearly ten years. Despite a good salary and a secure career, his perspective changed after returning to India during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. During the lockdown, he realized that reorienting his ancestral business was not just a business opportunity, but also a chance to carry forward his legacy. His family initially opposed his decision, but he remained confident.

A modern take on tradition

Moradabad is known worldwide for its brass and metal handicrafts. Ibne Ahmed has brought this traditional art to the market with modern designs and premium finishes. He has reinvented brass products by applying silver coating, attractive designs, and luxurious finishes. His collection includes decorative items, kitchenware, serving items, and home decor products inspired by the Mughal and Nawabi eras, all tailored to the tastes of modern consumers.

Products ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4 lakh

Safina Handicrafts’ products range in price from ₹4,000 to ₹4 lakh. Their clientele includes not ordinary shoppers, but luxury hotels, heritage palaces, resorts, premium villas, and high-end interior designers. In addition to India, their products are also exported to the US, Australia, and other countries. This is why their brand is rapidly gaining popularity in the international market.

Global recognition through exhibitions

To take his business to new heights, Ibn Ahmed regularly participates in national and international exhibitions. He recently showcased his premium collection at the World Gift Expo 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. These events provided him with the opportunity to connect with buyers and major business partners from India and abroad, further strengthening his brand’s recognition.

Becoming an inspiration for the youth

Ibn Ahmed’s success isn’t just a business story; it demonstrates that combining traditional art with modern thinking can create a new identity in the global market. He not only took his ancestral business to new heights but also created new employment opportunities for local artisans. Today, his journey serves as an inspiration for young people who struggle between a job and a business. With the right mindset, innovation, and determination, even traditional businesses can become international brands.
