“I hid it for years.”

During a conversation on a reality show, Sohail said that when he was young, someone sexually abused him. But due to fear and shame, he couldn’t tell anyone at the time.

Sohail said that after growing up, he mustered the courage to tell his father. His father, surprised, asked, “Why did you hide it for so many years?”

Sohail replied, “I felt very ashamed. At that age, I thought it was probably my fault, even though it wasn’t my fault.”

He teaches his sons this lesson

Sohail has two sons, Nirvan and Yohan. Since his ordeal, he always teaches his children one thing. He said, “I am completely against ragging and bullying. I always tell my sons, ‘If anyone bothers you, scares you, or makes you feel uncomfortable, don’t hide it from me. Come and tell me immediately.'” The actor believes that if children remain silent, the pain only increases. Therefore, he wants his children to share everything openly with their families.

Sohail’s words made the other contestants on the show emotional. Everyone hugged him and praised his bravery. Many said that it’s not easy to talk openly about such a big issue.

Divorce and Co-Parenting Also Discussed

On the same show, Sohail also discussed his divorce from his ex-wife Seema Sajdeh. The two separated in 2022 after 24 years of marriage. Sohail admitted that he was responsible for the breakdown of their relationship.

However, despite their separation, they are still raising their sons together. Sohail says that they will always work as a team for their children. Sohail’s revelation reminds us once again how important it is to talk about child abuse. Staying silent out of shame only leads to further problems.
