The continuous torrential rains from the mountains to the plains of the country for the last three days have become a nightmare for the common people. In many areas of Delhi-NCR, intermittent rains, sometimes heavy and sometimes light, have been continuing for more than 30 hours. As a result, the roads are flooded with water and the pace of normal life has come to a complete halt. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has today issued a big and serious alert regarding heavy rains and storms in 16 states of the country.

Flood threat looms large again in Assam, 97 deaths so far

The state of Assam, already reeling from the devastation of severe floods, is once again facing a significant crisis. Heavy rains have resumed in many parts of the state, prompting the Meteorological Department to declare a red alert. If the situation continues, the flood situation in Assam could once again become extremely dire. Areas where water was slowly receding are now at risk of re-flooding.

Speaking of the current dire situation in Assam, 97 people have tragically died in the flood disaster so far. Fifteen districts in the state are the worst affected, and approximately 168,000 people have been affected by this tragedy. The government has set up 133 relief camps in six districts, where relief supplies are being distributed and approximately 45,000 displaced people have been provided safe shelter.

Rivers in Uttarakhand are in spate, crumbling mountains are a threat.

Uttarakhand is currently experiencing a veritable monsoon disaster. Almost all the rivers, both large and small, are flowing above the danger mark, and the constantly crumbling mountains are further exacerbating this danger. In Srinagar, Uttarakhand, continuous rainfall has caused the water level of the famous Alaknanda River to exceed the danger mark. The Namami Gange Ghat has been completely submerged due to the strong flow of water. The administration is continuously appealing to people to avoid going near the river and remain vigilant. In Rishikesh and Haridwar, people have also been instructed to maintain a safe distance from the Ganga River. A heavy rain alert has been issued for the state for the next seven days.

The sea descended on the roads of Delhi-NCR, leaving vehicles stranded.

Due to heavy rains in Delhi-NCR, waterlogging is causing terrible scenes at many places. Due to the heavy rains on Friday, the roads near the flyover in Sector 95 of Noida were filled with so much water that many vehicles got stuck in the middle of the road. Even the ambulance had to struggle hard to get out of this heavy waterlogging. At the same time, the Kapashera border connecting Delhi to Gurugram is also heavily waterlogged, due to which bikes and cars are seen crawling on the roads where vehicles used to speed fast.

Red-orange alert for rain and thunderstorms in 16 states

The Meteorological Department clearly states that this natural disaster is showing no signs of abating. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in parts of Uttar Pradesh, as well as hilly states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. An orange alert has been declared for very heavy rain in some areas of eastern Rajasthan. Furthermore, heavy rain is forecast across much of northwest India today, while light rain is expected in Delhi-NCR for the next two days.

According to the Meteorological Department, a strict warning has been issued for rain and thunderstorms in 16 states today. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is also expected in Delhi-NCR, with the maximum temperature expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 28 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the humid heat.

According to the latest IMD report, heavy rain will continue today in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and landslides are possible at many locations. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Kathua, Jammu, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, and several districts of Punjab. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also on alert for isolated locations in eastern Rajasthan and Odisha.

Today, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected across parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Heavy rain will also continue in coastal Maharashtra and Goa. In addition, a full warning has been issued for torrential rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning in western districts of Uttar Pradesh and various areas of Bihar and Jharkhand.
