As per BBC Sport, Brighton are close to completing a six-figure move for United defender George ahead of the new Women's Super League campaign. The 29-year-old has one year left on her deal after United triggered an extension option in January. Across her three-year spell with the Red Devils, she made more than 50 appearances and helped the club lift the Women's FA Cup in 2024.

George's push for regular playing time comes as a major positive for an ambitious Brighton side under Dario Vidosic. Before joining United in 2023, George came through Everton's academy, played more than 100 matches for the club and won three caps for England. Her considerable experience adds to Brighton's summer signings, including Switzerland captain Lia Walti and Hammarby midfielder Emilie Joramo.
United's approval of George's exit comes at a crucial time in the club's managerial transition following the departure of Marc Skinner. On Monday, the club confirmed that Skinner had left his post by mutual consent, with officials actively assessing candidates to replace him.
